In November 2025, the EU Health Task Force (EUHTF) marked its first 1,000 days of operation since its launch in May 2023.1 Since its inception, it has received 36 requests for support and carried out 33 tasks, including 25 requests from 15 EU and EEA countries for preparedness and support in disease outbreaks, as well as eight operations in non-EU countries.1 Seventeen EUHTF experts have been deployed directly to the field to carry out these tasks, with a further 42 contributing remotely or through short-term missions.[1] The largest EUHTF operation was supporting the fight against the monkeypox epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2024, with more than 10 experts involved in surveillance, data management and field operations over a five-month period.The EUHTF is working with the European Commission, the World Health Organization and other partners to strengthen preparedness and response to health crises in the EU and globally.[1] The EUHTF has been working with the European Commission, the World Health Organization and other partners to strengthen preparedness and response to health crises in the EU and globally.
