Researchers have found that the amino acid arginine can significantly reduce the damage caused by Alzheimer's disease. In experiments on flies and mice, oral administration of arginine reduced the formation of beta-amyloid plaques, which are typical of the disease, while also reducing inflammation in the brain. This supplement also improved the animals' behaviour, suggesting a positive effect on cognitive function. Meanwhile, arginine is a common and safe substance with a low cost, making it a promising candidate for rapid use in Alzheimer's disease therapy. Research suggests that arginine blocks the harmful aggregation of beta-amyloid and its toxic effects. These results open up the possibility of more affordable and easier Alzheimer's treatments in the future. The study was conducted in models of the disease and the results provide a basis for further research in this area.
