Discontinuation of aspirin in patients with acute coronary syndrome who have an implanted coronary stent increases the risk of early stent thrombosis. In the study, 1,200 patients were followed, who were randomly divided into two groups - one continued to take aspirin, the other stopped it. In the aspirin discontinuation group, stent thrombosis occurred in 4.2% of patients compared with 0.8% in the continuation group. The difference was statistically significant (p < 0.001). The study showed that the continuation of aspirin after stent implantation in acute coronary syndrome significantly reduced the risk of thrombotic complications. The authors recommend continuous administration of aspirin in these patients.
