The study investigated the effectiveness of implementing case-based learning (CBL) integrated with the CDIO (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate) model in an evidence-based master's nursing program at a university in China, with 64 students participating. The results showed a significant improvement in students' knowledge and skills after the introduction of this educational model. Learners' competencies, including attitudes, skills, and knowledge, were influenced by appraisals of control, emotions, and learning strategies. The study also highlighted the need to focus on key factors affecting the learning process in order to create a more conducive learning environment. Most of the previous evaluations focused only on the final results, while this study also analyzed the students' learning process according to Control and Value Theory (CVT). The use of SPSS 27 software enabled statistical analysis of the questionnaires filled in before and after the implementation of the model. This longitudinal study confirmed that the integration of CBL within a CDIO can effectively support the development of practice competencies in evidence-based nursing.
