Wes Streeting, the UK's health secretary, has been the target of an official complaint from GP Shan Hussain for referring to doctors and the BMA trade union as "moaning Minnies" during the ongoing government-doctors row. Hussain, chairman of Nottinghamshire's local medical committee, claims Streeting has made "direct and personal attacks" that have publicly undermined confidence in the BMA. The complaint was initially addressed to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards and then to the Prime Minister. The conflict relates to new rules which will require all GP practices in England to provide online consultations between 8am and 6.30pm on weekdays from October 2025. Streeting criticized the BMA for resisting the changes, saying 98.7% of practices already offer online ordering and patient satisfaction with doctors has risen from 60% to 75% since the Labor government took office. The medical association confirmed a five-day strike action by resident doctors from 17 to 22 December 2025. A medical lobby group supported the complaint against Streeting[2][3].
