Researchers developed a rule to predict bacteremia and bacterial meningitis in febrile infants 28 days of age or younger. The study examined trends in the administration of vitamin K in infants, which is important for the prevention of bleeding disorders in infants. The editorial discusses a shift in the care of febrile newborns so that fewer interventions can be performed.
