ESUAvet's second annual report provides new data on sales and use of antimicrobials in veterinary medicine in the EU. In 2024, veterinary antimicrobial preparations (VMP) intended for food-producing animals accounted for 98% of the total sales of these substances. Sales of this group of antimicrobial agents increased by 5% compared to the previous year. ESUAvet not only collects this data, but also promotes trust and enables more effective measures to improve animal health and public health. Reliable and consolidated data from across the EU helps to manage the use of antimicrobials more intelligently. The goal is to contribute to the responsible use of these substances and reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance. The report highlights the importance of transparency and coordination between Member States in the field of veterinary antimicrobial policy.
