The authors write with deep moral urgency about the relentless suffering of people in Darfur, Sudan. Continued violence fueled by militia groups has led to mass displacement and widespread human rights abuses. Since the beginning of 2003, Darfur has been mired in a continuous cycle of conflict with recurring violence. The conflict is characterized by ethnic atrocities and targeted campaigns against the civilian population. The crisis requires immediate international attention and collective intervention. Silence in the face of this unfolding disaster is no longer possible. The scope and seriousness of the situation call for urgent measures.
