The past 3.5 years have seen the largest abduction of children since World War II, when 19,500 children were forcibly transported from Ukraine to Russia and Russian-occupied territory. Russia engaged medical professionals to carry out and legitimize the abductions. Psychologists issued the necessary documents for the children who were to be transported to Russia. The transportation took place under the pretext of illegal medical rehabilitation of Russian children.
