Brief, factual summary in Slovak: New findings in the treatment of malignant melanoma: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the GC scheme (gemcitabine and cisplatin) demonstrated a significant improvement in overall survival and survival without disease progression in patients with biliary tract carcinoma and gallbladder carcinoma compared to surgical treatment alone. The results suggest that neoadjuvant chemotherapy can reduce the risk of death by more than 50% and the risk of disease progression by almost 65%. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy did not increase perioperative morbidity or mortality. The study had limitations in the number of patients included, so the results should be interpreted with caution. Treatment with somatostatin analogues, tyrosine kinase inhibitors (sunitinib, everolimus) or telotristat ethyl can be considered for the treatment of patients with G2 afunctional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (panNET) with liver metastases who are inoperable. In Slovakia, it is necessary to increase the participation of women in screening mammography examinations, which can save lives.
