Cancer T cell gene therapy, developed by scientists at Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College London, has shown promising results in treating children and adults with T cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Results from the first 11 patients were published in the New England Journal of Medicine, with 9 of them achieving deep remissions allowing stem cell transplants. The first girl treated, Alyssa Tapley, is disease-free after three years and plans to become a cancer scientist. The Democratic Republic of Congo declared the end of the Ebola outbreak in Kasaï province on December 1, 2025, after 42 days with no new cases. A total of 64 cases and 45 deaths were recorded during the epidemic.
