US President Donald Trump has ordered a review of US childhood vaccination recommendations. He tasked Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with comparing the U.S. recommendations with those of other developed countries and adjusting them if necessary.By January 2025, the U.S. had recommended vaccinating all children against 18 diseases, far outpacing other countries. On Friday, the recommendation to vaccinate newborns against hepatitis B immediately after birth was relaxed.[1] Women who test negative for hepatitis B can opt to be vaccinated after consulting with a doctor; the panel suggested waiting until at least two months of age to get the first dose. The recommendation has yet to be formally confirmed by the CDC director.1 In 2025, the U.S. recorded more than 1,400 confirmed cases of measles, the worst year in more than three decades.3
