Samsung Biologics, through its subsidiary Samsung Biologics America, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Human Genome Sciences from GSK for $280 million.1][2][3] The transaction includes two 60,000-liter drug manufacturing facilities in Rockville, Maryland.2][3][4] This is Samsung Biologics' first U.S. manufacturing site, which will strengthen their global supplier network.[1][3][4] The company plans to keep more than 500 employees at the site to maintain operations.The deal is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2026.Samsung Biologics has announced further investments to expand capacity and upgrade technology to support biologics manufacturing.The move builds on a previous collaboration with GSK in the biologics therapeutics manufacturing business.[1][2][3][4
