At the recent annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology, researchers presented preclinical data on transdifferentiation in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Transdifferentiation refers to the transition between hematopoietic cell lines. This process may be caused by expression of the LMO2 gene and loss of p53 function. Research is investigating how these changes contribute to the development of the disease[1].
