A new antibiotic pill called zoliflodacin has been shown to be highly effective against drug-resistant gonorrhea. It is a single-dose oral drug that achieved success comparable to current treatment in a large international study. Unlike standard therapy, it avoids injections and complex dosing. As antibiotic resistance spreads, zoliflodacin offers a simpler and more affordable treatment option worldwide. Approval of this drug would represent a major step forward in controlling the global sexually transmitted disease gonorrhea.[1]
