A large population-based study from Japan reveals both the promise and the limits of genomic profiling in cancer care. The study highlights the need for multidimensional data to guide treatment in different populations. Genomic profiling provides valuable information, but also has significant limitations. For better precision oncology, it is essential to go beyond the boundaries of genomics itself. Multidimensional data allow better adaptation of treatment to the individual needs of patients. These findings are particularly true for diverse populations such as Japan.[1]
