The NHS, through its 10-year health plan for England published in July 2025, aims to become "fit for the future". One of the three fundamental pillars of change in healthcare is the digitization of the NHS. Part of this digital transformation is single sign-on (SSO) as a key priority to increase efficiency and improve the employee experience. Single sign-on allows employees to access different healthcare systems and digital tools using a single set of credentials. This will increase productivity, reduce time wasted on repeated logins and limit security risks. “One of the problems people have is having dozens of logins, so single sign-on is one solution,” says Pritesh Mistry, digital technology fellow at the King's Fund. Staff log-on woes and NHS IT problems are well documented by an independent investigative paper from the National Health Service in England.
