The DISTRICTS study compared two treatment strategies for carpal tunnel syndrome: one starting with surgery and the other starting with corticosteroids. Both strategies allowed patients not to continue further treatment if it was not needed. The authors of the study chose this design based on specific reasons, which they wanted to further clarify in response to correspondence from Mustafo Turgut Yildizgören. All participating centers followed a strict treatment protocol. The study thus made it possible to compare the effectiveness of both approaches in the treatment of this strait syndrome, which is the most frequently diagnosed strait neuropathy in clinical practice.
