A study evaluated the effect of vitamin B12 injections combined with traditional Chinese medicine techniques (pulling, paravertebral skin needling and banking) in patients with meralgia paresthetica (lateral femoral cutaneous neuritis). In the years 2022–2024, 126 patients were included in the randomized study, divided into study and control groups. The control group received only a combination of traction, paravertebral tapping with a skin needle, and banking. The study group received the same TCM procedures plus vitamin B12 injections. After treatment, the study group had lower pain scores and lower numbness scores than the control group. The overall effective treatment rate was higher in the study group than in the control group. Both the recurrence rate and the incidence of adverse reactions were lower in the study group. The authors conclude that the combination of vitamin B12 injections with the mentioned TCM techniques has an effective clinical effect in the treatment of lateral cutaneous neuritis of the thigh.
