Aging is closely associated with chronic low-grade inflammation, which contributes to multiple diseases in old age.[4][7] This Thematic Series/Editorial collects articles that focus on inflammation in the elderly and treatment options.[4][7] Includes review papers on the relationship between inflammation and coronary microvascular disease, including mechanisms and treatment options.[7] Also included are articles on medications used in elderly patients with inflammatory conditions and strategies to reduce inflammation.[4][7] Attention is paid not only to classic anti-inflammatory drugs, but also to newer targeted therapies and non-pharmacological approaches.[4][7] The aim of the issue is to contribute to a better understanding of the role of inflammation in aging and to more effective, safer treatment of elderly patients.[4][7]
