For the first time, the new US Dietary Guidelines for 2025–2030 include a section on supporting testosterone health in men in the Scientific Basis appendix.[1] Men who want to maintain healthy testosterone levels should focus on eating a balanced diet rich in healthy fats.[1] The guidelines do not recommend low-fat diets because research has linked them to a slight decrease in testosterone.[1] Staying active and maintaining a healthy body weight are also recommended, with weight loss suggested for overweight and obese men.[1] Being overweight often increases estrogen levels because an enzyme in fat cells converts testosterone to estrogen, which suppresses its production.[1] No single food will increase testosterone, but the overall quality of the diet is key.[1]
