A fast-mimicking diet (FMD) was investigated in patients with mild to moderate Crohn's disease in a randomized controlled trial with 97 participants. Patients assigned to FMD achieved a clinical response in 69% of cases. More than 60% of them achieved remission, surpassing the results of the control group. At the same time, FMD reduced markers of intestinal inflammation. The study suggests that this dietary intervention could serve as an adjunctive treatment for Crohn's disease. The results were published in Nature Medicine online on January 13, 2026.
