Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is the most common adult leukemia in Western countries, while its true incidence in Saudi Arabia is poorly defined.[1] The prognosis of patients with CLL has improved significantly in recent years due to new effective and safer treatment options available at different stages of the disease.[1] The document presents the recommendations of an expert panel in Saudi Arabia aimed at a uniform approach to the diagnosis and management of CLL at the national level.[1] Recommendations cover diagnosis, staging, first-line therapy, and management of relapsed or refractory disease.[1] The goal of developing local recommendations is to optimize the selection of patients for treatment, improve therapeutic decision-making and reduce adverse effects of treatment.[1] Recommendations are based on available evidence from the literature and consensus discussion among a panel of experts.[1]
