India is at a pivotal moment in its journey towards universal health coverage, an important part of the government's Viksit Bharat vision to elevate the country to a developed nation by 2047, 100 years after its independence. There is unprecedented political will for reform and sustained economic growth, creating an opportunity for transformative change in healthcare. India strives to create a universal, citizen-centric and technologically advanced healthcare system that separates welfare from access to quality and comprehensive healthcare. This system should ensure that all citizens have access to health care without financial difficulties. Healthcare reform is key to achieving the goals of sustainable development and the overall progress of the country. The transformation of the health system requires the integration of innovation, inclusion and systemic change at all levels.
