The study analyzed the burden of skin and subcutaneous diseases in China from 1990 to 2021 using data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021. From 1990 to 2021, the age-standardized incidence rate increased slightly (by 0.11% per year), while prevalence increased more rapidly (by 2.29% per year). On the contrary, the age-standardized mortality rate decreased significantly (by 3.60% per year). In 2021, the incidence reached 50,120 cases per 100,000 population and the prevalence 24,852 per 100,000 population, while the death rate remained low at 0.40 per 100,000. The analysis showed that the risk of death increases with age, while incidence and prevalence increase in newer generations. Projections indicate that the age-standardized death rate is likely to remain low and stable over the next decade. The results help to identify priority populations and regions for targeted screening programs and preventive measures.
