ICE agents are conducting operations at hospitals and other locations in Minnesota, raising health concerns for residents and complicating access to health care.[1] In Minneapolis, ICE agent Jonathan Ross, 43, shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, when she tried to flee in her car and threaten the agent in self-defense, according to authorities.[5] Local authorities and Mayor Jacob Frey deny the incident and call on ICE to leave the city.[2][5] Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is calling for a full investigation and allowing state police to be involved.[2][5] A day after the incident in Minneapolis, agents shot two people outside a hospital in Portland, Oregon, who were hospitalized.[3] The administration has deployed approximately 2,000 federal agents to Minneapolis for welfare fraud and deportations, including the Somali community.[2] Schools in Minneapolis canceled classes for the rest of the week due to safety concerns following the arrests near the school.[2] The incidents caused protests and criticism from Democrats.[2][3]
