UHC promotes human rights and equality. It contributes to inclusive and sustainable economic growth by supporting a healthy and productive workforce. It promotes better education, poverty eradication, stronger social protection and equality for all as key foundations of human development. Japan's success of UHC in 1961 contributed to social stability and rapid economic growth. This example shows the importance of supporting UHC at an early stage of economic development.
