In September 2025, 10 cases of latent tuberculosis (TB), a non-infectious form of this bacterial infection, were detected at an Amazon warehouse in Coventry, UK[1]. Latent TB means that the bacteria are present in the body, but the person has no symptoms and is not infectious[1]. Health professionals have emphasized that people with latent TB cannot transmit the infection to others[1]. Amazon, in partnership with the NHS and the UK Health Safety Agency (UKHSA), has carried out widespread testing of staff and, according to Amazon, no further cases have been confirmed since the initial detection[1]. The warehouse, with approximately 3,000 employees, continues to operate as normal[1]. According to UKHSA figures, the number of TB cases in England is increasing, with almost 5,500 cases reported in 2024 compared to around 4,800 in 2023[1].
