The FDA is warning MediHoney gel and CVS wound and burn care products after more than a dozen reports of serious injuries.[1][4][5] Integra LifeSciences has identified packaging failures for MediHoney Wound and Burn Dressing Gel (model 31815) that may lead to a breach of the sterile barrier.[1] The reason is potentially incomplete sealing of the induction seal on the tubes or a hole in the applicator casing.[1][4][5] The company sent urgent recall letters on January 10, 2025 for the gel and on August 5, 2025 for the paste (model 31505).[1][5] Customers should immediately remove affected products from the service, quarantine them, and notify other users.[1][4][5] The products contain 80% medicinal Leptospermum honey and serve to maintain a moist environment for wound healing.[1] Serious injuries, including infections and allergic contact dermatitis, have been reported.[7][9][10]
