The study looked at 445 older adults aged 60 and over from Kazakhstan during the COVID-19 pandemic to find out which factors affect their quality of life. The research showed that belonging to an ethnic group other than Kazakh was associated with lower quality of life scores in the entire study population. For men, being married was significantly associated with higher quality of life, while for women, the presence of chronic heart and lung disease and other ethnicity were associated with lower quality of life. In urban areas, better overall health status and the absence of heart failure were associated with higher quality of life, while in rural areas, diabetes was associated with lower quality of life. The analysis showed that age combined with various health and sociodemographic factors significantly influenced quality of life, with these effects varying by gender and place of residence. The results suggest the need to tailor health care and support services according to the gender and place of residence of older adults.
