The US is set to officially leave the World Health Organization (WHO) amid domestic pressure from President Trump. A spokesperson for the US State Department for Pharmaceutical Technology said that "the Americans have paid more than enough to the WHO". The move culminated in a review of international organizations under Executive Order 14199 of February 4, 2025. President Trump issued a memorandum ordering immediate action to withdraw the US from several organizations, including the WHO. Withdrawal includes termination of participation and funding in accordance with law. The Secretary of State was directed to publish the memorandum in the Federal Register. A review of the Secretary of State's other findings is ongoing.
