Leaders of the largest health insurance companies in the US, including UnitedHealth Group, CVS Health, Elevance Health, Cigna and Ascendiun, participated in the hearing before Congress.[1] They blame high health care costs on hospitals, doctors, and prescription drugs.[1] They agree that America's health care system is overpriced, wasteful, and confusing.[1] UnitedHealth Group CEO Steve Hemsley said hospital and drug spending is growing three times faster than inflation.[1] Insurers have promised faster claims approval and investment in value-based care.[1] These statements were made at the committee of the House of Representatives for energy and trade.[1]
