Earlier this month, the Trump administration released new dietary guidelines for 2025–2030 that emphasize whole foods and protein.[1] The document calls for a return to real food and presents a revised visualization in the shape of an inverted pyramid, with proteins, dairy products, healthy fats and agricultural crops dominating at the top.[1] The new guidelines reintroduce saturated fat and red meat, which were previously restricted, to the menu.[1] It is recommended to consume three portions of dairy products a day, with an emphasis on full-fat variants without added sugar.[1] At the same time, they strongly oppose highly processed foods, added sugars and artificial sweeteners.[1] These changes depart from long-standing recommendations to favor low-fat dairy products and limit red meat.[1]
