Doctors and nurses in Minneapolis report that patients are avoiding medical care for fear of ICE agents.[1] Patients feel "hunted" by ICE agents who have been seen in and around hospitals.[1] Even legal residents show fear of seeking medical help.[1] The situation is related to the presence of several thousand ICE agents in Minneapolis conducting operations against illegal immigration.[2] From January 21, 2025 to January 7, 2026, there were 66 vehicle attacks on ICE employees.[2] The escalation of tensions culminated in an incident in which an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old American citizen Renee Nicole Good.[3][5]
