A large study has shown that not all cases of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) lead to dementia. CTE is a disorder associated with repeated impacts to the head, often from contact sports such as American football. Higher stages of CTE were associated with an increased likelihood of dementia, according to autopsy data. The study analyzed the brains and confirmed these connections.
