Meta, TikTok and YouTube face a landmark trial in Los Angeles that begins this week. The lawsuit concerns claims that their platforms - Meta's Instagram, ByteDance's TikTok and Google's YouTube - are deliberately designed to be addictive to youth. The lawsuit is being filed in California against the three biggest tech companies. The plaintiffs are seeking monetary damages and changes in the design of the social networks. The trial begins Tuesday in Los Angeles. Snap Inc., the operator of Snapchat, reached a settlement agreement in a social media addiction lawsuit prior to this trial.[1][2][3]
