Two royal colleges representing more than 50,000 medical professionals have stopped posting on social media platform X. The Royal College of Anesthetists (RCoA) has left X due to concerns over an increase in abusive behavior and harmful content. The move follows the departure of the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) in England, which decided earlier this month to stop publishing on X. The RCS said it could not ignore developments on the platform, particularly in relation to the fight against sexual abuse in the surgical workforce. A third King's College is reviewing its use of social media, as reported by The BMJ. The RCoA has confirmed that it will continually review its decision.[1]
