A small proportion of authors disclosed the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the preparation of research manuscripts submitted to journals. According to two cross-sectional studies, this figure is probably underestimated. About 3.3 percent of authors reported using AI. Studies have looked at the frequency of AI disclosures in researchers' papers. Disclosure of AI in manuscripts is low, although actual use may be higher. Research highlights the need for better disclosure of AI in publications.
