In December 2025, NATO chief Mark Rutte warned in Berlin that defense can hold out for now, but the conflict is in Europe's neighborhood and both defense spending and allied production must grow rapidly. The armed forces must have what they need to maintain security. These warnings and pressure from the US prompted the EU to re-coordinate Europe's defense. The EU adopted the 2030 Readiness Plan, the European Defense Industry Strategy and the European Defense Industry Agenda. The article justifies the establishment of the European Agency for Defense Health.
