The UK government has published a national security assessment entitled Global Biodiversity Loss, Ecosystem Collapse and National Security. This assessment uses the same analytical tools as terrorism or nuclear threats to assess the ecological crisis. It concludes that global ecosystem degradation poses a serious threat to the UK's food security, economic stability and international security. The government reportedly temporarily blocked the message for its negative content, as happened last year. Journalists claim that the published version was shortened. Britain imports around 40 per cent of its food, with a quarter of imports coming from the Mediterranean. The country also relies on the import of fertilizers.
