Artificial intelligence has long been used in breast cancer screening. The development of computing coincided with the expansion of digital mammography in the early 21st century and the creation of large collections of archival imaging data suitable for training and validating algorithms. Reading mammograms to identify suspicious changes is a difficult task that artificial intelligence can automate. According to a study by DeepHealth, breast cancer detection rates were 43% higher for women who used AI for diagnosis compared to women without this support. Additional diagnostics with the help of AI software increased the accuracy of detection and screening by 21 percent. Artificial intelligence has the potential to improve screening efficiency while reducing the workload of reading mammograms.
