This correction concerns a retrospective single-center study of the effect of diabetes mellitus and glycemic control on postoperative recurrence of perianal abscess. The study demonstrated that diabetes mellitus and poor glycemic control are independent risk factors for recurrence after perianal abscess incision and drainage. Every 1% increase in HbA1c is associated with a 50% increase in the chances of recurrence. There is a clear dose-dependent relationship between the HbA1c level and the risk of recurrence. The study developed and internally validated a predictive model combining HbA1c with other clinical variables to identify high-risk patients. The model is used for personalized perioperative optimization and follow-up.[3][5]
