Measles cases have been confirmed at two Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities in the US. These facilities serve to detain migrants. 2026 brought a crisis with multiple deaths in ICE custody. At least four migrants died in ICE custody in the first 10 days of 2026. Last year, at least 30 people died in these facilities, which is the most in the last 20 years. At the end of December 2025, more than 68,000 adults were in ICE custody, nearly double the number in December 2023. A 2024 ACLU report states that up to 95 percent of deaths could have been prevented with adequate health care.[1]
