Artificial intelligence is used in oral health management for education, monitoring, screening, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the oral cavity. AI technology increases the accuracy of diagnosis, enables personalized treatment and supports teledentistry, thereby optimizing the allocation of dental resources and providing early warnings of diseases. By increasing public awareness of oral health and improving patient self-management skills, AI can contribute to the efficiency and quality of oral health management. Despite the significant potential of AI in this area, challenges remain, including inconsistencies in oral health data, limited data availability, reliability of results, and issues of bias and fairness in algorithms. Addressing these challenges is essential to fully exploit the transformative potential of AI. The ultimate goal of oral health management is to achieve the greatest societal benefit in oral health at the lowest possible cost. By overcoming issues of data consistency, availability, reliability and bias issues in algorithms, AI can play a significant role in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases.
