At least 10 doctors and five other health workers have been arrested and detained in Iran. One of them, Alireza Golchini, faces a charge of waging war against God, which can lead to the death penalty. Golchini was arrested on January 1 in Qazvin, northeastern Iran, for treating injured protesters. During his arrest, he was severely beaten and several of his teeth were broken. Before his arrest, he offered medical help to those injured during the protests on social networks. He previously treated the wounded during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" protests in 2022. Protests against the regime began in late December. The Norwegian human rights group Hengaw reported the information in a January 27 statement.
