Last season's COVID-19 vaccines provided protection against hospitalization and serious outcomes, especially for seniors. A case-control study was conducted in 20 US states. Estimated vaccine efficacy (VE) was calculated based on prospective data. Vaccines have been effective against severe disease and deaths. The most pronounced protection was observed in the elderly. The study confirmed the positive results of vaccination from the previous season.
