RCP president Mumtaz Patel said they cannot overlook the normalization of unacceptable online behaviour, particularly the use of AI tools to create harmful, inconsistent content with real people. The RCP is concerned about safety and governance, which is inconsistent with their values and professional responsibilities. The Royal College of General Practitioners has temporarily suspended posting on X due to concerns. She previously left the X Royal College of Nursing in November 2024 due to a conflict with organizational values. The Royal College of Surgeons in England and the Royal College of Anaesthetists followed suit last month. RCP will continue to communicate through other channels such as Bluesky and YouTube.
