A cross-sectional study of 1,009 participants in Saudi Arabia investigated the epidemiology and symptoms of dry eye disease (DED) using an online questionnaire. Women made up 56.7% of respondents and the majority were aged 29–35. The most affected domain was irritation/dryness with a mean score of 47.5 ± 22.8. DED symptoms were significantly related to age, sex, marital status, education and occupation (p < 0.001). Eye discomfort and irritation/dryness domains were associated with female gender (p < 0.001) and hours spent on phones and computers (p < 0.001). Prolonged digital exposure and female gender were the strongest predictors of increased symptom burden. DED is a multifactorial problem influenced by demographic, behavioral and environmental factors.
