FDA targets illegal drug copies amid tensions between Hims & Hers and Novo Nordisk.[1] Hims & Hers launched a compounded version of Novo Nordisk's Wegovy pill, made with semaglutide, at an initial price of $49 per month, then $99 for a five-month subscription.[2] This version is intended to be customized for patients to avoid side effects or prefer tablets over injections.[2] Novo Nordisk ended its short-term partnership with Hims & Hers due to the deceptive promotion and sale of illegitimate, counterfeit versions of Wego made in China from unauthorized material.[3][5] The collaboration was announced in April and included the sale of the original Wego via the Hims & Hers platform for $599 per month with support.[4] A US federal judge rejected the pharmacies' request to continue making copies of Ozempic and Wegovy.[1] Additionally, Hims & Hers sells liraglutide, a generic version of Novo Nordisk's older diabetes drug that promotes weight loss.[1]
