Colorectal cancer has long puzzled scientists because patients often fare better if their tumor contains immune-suppressing regulatory T cells. New research explains that these T cells are not all created equal. One subtype of T cells helps keep tumors under control. Another subtype protects the cancer from immune attack. The balance between these "good" and "bad" cells determines whether a tumor grows or shrinks.[3]
